LINUX STUDY GROUP REPORT TO THE INCITS
EB - OCTOBER 2005
Dave Thewlis
Convenor, INCITS Linux Study Group
1. At its September 2004 meeting, the INCITS Executive
Board continued the INCITS Study Group on Linux in existence as the appropriate
entity to develop the recommended US positions and comments on the Linux
Standard Base PAS Submission from the Free Standards Group.
2 INCITS SG membership is now five voting and one advisory:
Voting Members:
- Hewlett Packard
- IBM
- Intel
- Sun Microsystems
- USENIX
Advisory Members:
3. The last report submitted to the INCITS Executive Board
was the Annual Report for the Study Group submitted in late May. Since
that time, the Study Group had two meetings by teleconference on June 7 and
28 to prepare for the DIS 23360 Ballot Resolution meeting in Singapore.
4. The INCITS Study Group on Linux sent a delegation of three
people to the Ballot Resolution Meeting for DIS 23360 in Singapore:
- David Thewlis, Intel (HoD)
- Donald Cragun, Sun Microsystems
- Mats Wichmann, Intel Corporation
The Ballot Resolution Meeting was extremely successful, and the three
outstanding "no" votes from the Letter Ballot were converted to "yes" votes.
The Head of Delegation Report for this meeting is document IN/05-0753.
5. The INCITS Study Group on Linux has no meeting scheduled
at this time. I do not anticipate a need for a meeting or teleconference
until the first corrigenda report agains IS 23360 is submitted.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dave Thewlis
Convenor, INCITS Study Group on Linux
