1. AAMVA
I object to the contribution
due to references to patented technologies in the last paragraph at the bottom
of page 5. The status of the patents are unclear in this document (whether
licenses will be granted free of charge or at reasonable cost, etc.). See the
attached ISO patent policy. I would change my objection to an approval if the
reference to the patents. I don't understand how they add any value to the
contribution. Otherwise, the patent issue should be worked out by the M1
committee in conformance with current ISO patent policies.
2. Datacard
Group
Section 4, paragraph 2 references
specific patented methodologies.
What is the intellectual property status of these patents? Are they in the public domain or
available for license?
3. International
Biometric Group
May be I am latecomer to this sub-group, I don’t see a clear scope of this
document. The current template
protection, and usage document
seems more applicable as an issue of application / security and policy where
the current document haven’t address those closely.
This document is a nice reference of how template could associate with user data and adding data protection with different scenario.
I understand this is a draft document and not totally agree/understand the scope of the document, I choice to abstain
4. Mitretek
Mitretek
is unsure of the purpose of this document.
5. Department of State
It
is not clear that templates should require protection that is separate and
distinct from other data to which they are associated.
