Summary of Format Types in INCITS M1 Biometric Data Interchange Formats
Standard biometric data formats as developed in the Biometric Data Interchange Formats work of the INCITS M1 committee have CBEFF Format Owner and Format Type codes as defined in NISTIR 6529-A-2003 - Common Biometric Exchange Framework Format (CBEFF). The format owner of these formats is the INCITS M1 committee for biometric standardization; the CBEFF Format Owner code for INCITS M1 is the sixteen-bit value 0x001B (hexadecimal 1B or 27 decimal). The Format Owner is responsible for issuing unique Format Type codes for all biometric data formats that it defines. These Format Owner codes are sixteen-bit numbers; the specific strategy for issuing these numbers is left to the issuer.
This document is the initial list of defined Format Type codes for all biometric data formats issued by the M1 committee. Each developing data format standard shall be assigned a Format Type code when the draft standard document is deemed ready for letter ballot for initial public review. No Format Type codes shall be removed or deleted from this list.
The maintenance of this list shall be the responsibility of the chair of the M1 Biometric Data Formats group. New revisions of this list shall be approved by vote of the M1 Biometric Data Formats group. This list shall be maintained as an M1 standing document, available on-line at http://www.incits.org/tc_home/m1htm.
