Access Interfaces Technical Committee
INCITS (the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards) Technical Committee V2 - Information Technology Access Interfaces (http://www.incits.org/tc_home/v2.htm) invites any interested party to participate in its twenty-fourth plenary meeting. Please register for this meeting at http://www.nist.gov/incits/v2/.
The twenty-fourth plenary meeting of INCITS/V2 will be convened by teleconference on Thursday, June 21, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM ED. Any interested party is invited to participate.
The current family of projects of the technical committee is a set of standards, known as the "Protocol to Facilitate Operation of Information and Electronic Products," supporting the implementation of a Universal Remote Console (URC). This communication protocol complements and builds on industry activity in home networking, wireless networking, and metadata registries for discovery and interoperation of intelligent devices. The Universal Remote Console and related standards will ensure that IT products are more accommodating of the needs and preferences of the consumer by allowing for alternative interfaces. The option to change interfaces will have a broad market application. The committee also serves as the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for the International standards development body, ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 35, User Interfaces.
