Dimensions of Targets

To help us decide whether our explorations are providing good coverage of the space of potential targets, v2a used the following crude set of dimensions. Please throw in any other qualities that spring to mind.

• Modality richness
• Complexity
• Responsiveness
• Navigational flexibility
• Providing access to IT v.s. access to the world
• The set of choices available at any one time may be deep/shallow or wide/narrow
• Streaming media may be produced
• The set of options may be dynamic or static
• The target may deal with third party data
• The target may present data not (or not easily) translateable into text
• The user's interaction may be predominantly to provide information, receive information, give commands, make choices, or create/edit content.
• Multi user or single user
• Shared or private resource
• Context of use may be home, public, office, or mobile
• Security and privacy of information gathered and presented may be required
• May involve timing issues - timeouts, real time, simulated time.
