The ninth plenary meeting of INCITS V2 will convene Monday, September 30 through Friday, October 4, 2002, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (ET) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology , Gaithersburg, MD in Lecture Room F, Administration Building 101, Basement (all five days, Monday through Friday).
The Committee invites you to participate in its continuing work on standards for an Alternative Interface Access Protocol (AIAP). This communication protocol would complement and build on industry activity in home networking, wireless networking, and metadata registries for discovery and interoperation of intelligent devices. The aim is to make it easy to fulfill the alternate interface connection needs of people with disabilities that is called for in recent government regulations. The Alternative Interface Access Protocol and related standards will ensure IT products are more accommodating of the needs and preferences of the consumer by allowing for alternative interfaces. While addressing the special needs of people with disabilities, the option to change interfaces will have a broader market application.
Anyone interested in contributing to the future directions in the marriage of assistive technology, information technology, human computer interaction and pervasive computing may find this 5 day working meeting of interest. V2 is particularly seeking individuals experienced with all aspects on wireless communications, particularly security, and those experienced in the development of use case modeling and of user scenarios.
