Statement:  V36 members conducted a review of N1631 and the following comments are attached:

 

Comment 1:   Two typographical errors are repeated in every portion of the document, in section 1.3.1 Vendors. Correct text is below.

Vendor bullet 1: For example, there is no harm *in* claiming conformance

Vendor bullet 2: Do NOT claim that *your* format has been standardized

 

Comment 2: The normative references for Microsoft Office work-alike tools are incorrect.  The correct binary formats for ".doc", ".xls", ".ppt" are at:

http://www.microsoft.com/interop/docs/OfficeBinaryFormats.mspx

 

Comment 3: All clauses should be checked to verify conforming to the JTC1 Directives Annex N, which includes normative references to specifications.

 

Comment 4: All clauses should be checked to verify that the references are current.

 

Comment 5: ISO/IEC 26300 ODF (Open Document Format) should be included for word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation, i.e., additional sections need to be added for non-Microsoft word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation formats.
