Spatial Data Transfer Standard

Washington D.C., January 1998 - NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) is announcing the public comment period for NCITS 320:199x. Development of this draft standard is being done in Technical Committee L1, Georgraphic Information Systems.

The public review extends from January 16, 1998 to March 17, 1998.

The standard will provide a common mechanism for transferring digital spatial data among different systems, for sharing and integrating data from many diverse sources. A common means of exchanging digital spatial data allows for the ability to integrate and analyze earth science, social, economic and demographic data by location.
